Most domestic PV installations will fit on, or in roof, and be under 4kWp. The feed-in tariff has different levels in which the tariff is reduced as the array size increases. To maximise returns and still fit the array on, or in the roof, (see roof mounted solar panels) 4kWp and under is generally the best size array for a house. Ground arrays are possible but need a lot of space and require planning permission - more can be found under ground array solar panels. Ground arrays
The installation of a 4kWp array is very simple and in most case will be performed in one day with very little disruption.
