Written on Friday, 22nd July 2011 by GHE Solar
The details of the RHI pilot scheme have been announced today. £15 million have been set aside for the RHI pilot scheme and applications will open on the 1st of august 2011. Applications for the RHI pilot scheme will close in March 2012. The government anticipates that the RHI poilot scheme will support 25000 installations. The rates, technologies and conditions are as follows:
Solar thermal hot water panels - £300 grant (available to all households regardless of the type of heating system used)
Ground Source Heat Pump - £1250 grant (for homes without mains gas heating)
Biomass boiler - £950 grant (for homes without mains gas heating)
Air source heat pump - £850 grant (for homes without mains gas heating)
Households will be able to apply to the Energy Saving Trust (EST) from the 1st Aug 2011. The house must be the main home and it must have basic energy efficiency measures in place. This means the householder will need to confirm they have loft insulation to 250mm and cavity wall insulation, where these measures are practical. The renewable heat product must be listed under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme and be installed by someone registered under the scheme.
